Cutting after-school programs

Four after-school programs in lower Manhattan will be closed this fall, the Daily News reports today. According to the article, the city cut its funding to the non-profit Chinese-American Planning Council, which ran the programs in 4 primary schools. About 400 kids will lose out next year. Here would be a good time for the community education councils to stand up and prevent this from happening.
