School spending in New York

According to this report from the Independent Budget Office, education spending per student in New York City has risen 24 percent in the last 15 years (1989-2004). Total school spending has gone up 43 percent during this time period. Some other interesting tidbits: student-teacher ratios have declined every year since 1996, and Bloomberg has increased funding for education by 3.5 percent, down from the average increase of 6.3 percent from 1998-2001.
